[dvd::rip] problem with subtitles

I have a problem with subtitles when ripping some DVDs. In one case, no
subs are found, even when there are spanish subs. In the second case, the
subs are detected but are not extracted. I have subtitle ripper installed,
perhaps the problem could be that the media isnt a DVD, but a folder in my
hd with the DVD content?
Can somebody recommend me some other way to extract the subs?
