[dvd::rip] Problems with subtitles

The subtitle ripping mechanisms don't seem to work quite right anymore.
When I select "Create now" from the "Create vobsub file" box, it starts
by counting DOWN from 150% complete.  Eventually it gets done, but the
resulting .rar subtitle file doesn't display properly in mplayer like it
used to -- the subtitles are very gray and fuzzy.  Vobsub files created
some months ago with an older version of dvdrip still work fine.  Vobsub
files created manually with mencoder seem to work ok too, although some
words have black lines through the middle of them.  Mencoder also
doesn't seem to create a .ifo file -- which mplayer later complains
about.

Subtitle rendering doesn't work either.  The Preview window (underneath
Grab on the Subtitle page) seems to work, but the preview window
displays the movie without subtitles.  Ripping the whole movie with
rendering enables yields a movie without subtitles.

dvdrip version is 0.52.5, transcode is 0.6.14.  System is AMD64 running
Gentoo.
