probably because ripping just the audio can be done with a single command,
making a gui more cumbersome than necessary especially for an automable
solution

Just one command? and that is? Last time I asked in some other forum, someone suggested using Mencoder, creating an intermediate video file, then stripping the audio from the video. Which is nuts.
