Hi,
I am fairly new to linux. I have been able to get nearly everything that i
need to completely drop windows.
One thing that doesnt work is DVD to xVid conversion. I am using FC6 and
installed dvd::rip with Yum. I can get the program to load, rip the DVD, read
the TOC, but it always hangs on Grab Preview. When i look at the system
monitor I see transcode is running even when dvd::rip is closed. If i try to
end the process it wont. Here is soming info on my machine/setup.
Program Version
-------------------------------
dvd::rip 0.98.2
transcode 1.0.2
ImageMagick 6.2.8
xvid4conf 1.12
subtitle2pgm 0.4
lsdvd 0.16
rar 3.60
mplayer 1.0
ogmtools 1.5
dvdxchap 1.5
mjpegtools 1.9.0
xine 0.99.4
fping not installed
hal 0.5.8
-------------------------------
uname -r = 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6
--------------------------------
P4 3.2Ghz w/1GB of RAM.
nVidia 6600GT with nVidia drivers installed
I read on the FAQ...
6.1 dvd::rip sometings hangs during transcoding
That's most likely due to a transcode issue related to NPTL. Try most recent
transcode versions (1.0.2 or better) and don't use NPTL with 2.4 kernels but a
recent 2.6 kernel. If that doesn't help, you can try to workaround transcode
NPTL bugs by enabling the correspondent option in dvd::rip's Preferences
dialog.
What does this mean? I dont see anything in pref about NPTL. Can you please
clearify.
I am trying to convert a DVD on my HDD (video_ts folder) to xVid, AVI with AC3.
Thanks,
Mitchell
