Woops, managed to go off-list there. Connecting to the daemon started
in the console works nicely, just had to jibble the configuration of
dvd::rip a little

Just start the dvdrip-master daemon by hand from a console, then use the
GUI to connect to it. No need to start it from the GUI when you want to
connect to it. Just make sure the GUI uses the correct port number.
