I've tried copying the contents of the DVD to the file system and
loopback mounting the ISO image. I get the same result. I can rip the
video and the subtitles and I can render the subtitles on the ripped
movie but I can't create the vobsub file with the subtitles. The ISO is
loopback mounted at the moment so mtab looks like the following (DVD ISO
is the last entry):
[root@bend etc]# cat /etc/mtab
/dev/hda2 / ext3 rw 0 0
proc /proc proc rw 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs rw 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,gid=5,mode=620 0 0
/dev/hda1 /boot ext3 rw 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs rw 0 0
/dev/hde1 /home ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hdf3 /opt ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hda3 /tmp ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hda5 /usr ext3 rw 0 0
/dev/hdf1 /var ext3 rw 0 0
none /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc binfmt_misc rw 0 0
sunrpc /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs rpc_pipefs rw 0 0
mutilate:/share /mnt/share nfs rw,addr=192.168.255.254 0 0
mutilate:/home/dave /home/dave/fraudHome nfs
rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,users,addr=192.168.255.254 0 0
/opt/video/TombRaider/TombRaider.iso /mnt/loop udf rw,loop=/dev/loop0 0 0
If I play the DVD ISO from there with something like:
xine dvd:///mnt/loop
the subtitles are available through the xine controls. Also, as I noted
in my previous post, dvdrip is able to extract the subtitles and I can
render them on the ripped movie. I just can't create a vobsub file.
I made the mistake of originally using the Livna repo for several
non-standard RPMs (the system is running FC6). I'm slowly finding these
(usually when something doesn't work) and replacing them with the
corresponding RPMs from the Dries repo. Is there any chance something
like this could be causing the problem? I know there's still at least
one problem since I don't get any audio when I play the ripped movie
through totem while mplayer just has noise. xine plays the movie with
full sound as expected (with rendered subtitles for my current attempt).
Thanks,
Dave
