[dvd::rip] dvdrip hangs while transcoding and cannot enable NPTL workaro

Subject: [dvd::rip] dvdrip hangs while transcoding and cannot enable NPTL workaround

Hi all,

I've been trying to do some ripping and realized that dvd::rip keeps
hanging at different tracks on different runs.

Looking at the FAQ, I made sure I checked my version of transcode (which
is 1.0.2) and I considered 2.6.17 a fairly recent kernel. Since this was
my default setup on Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft, I tried switching on this NPTL
workaround in the preferences but couldn't as the option is greyed out.
(by the way, just like the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL option.)

In the changelog concerning release 0.52.7, I read that the workaround
wasn't in general necessary anymore on newer transcode releases. Not
sure if this still holds true and is related to my problem.

This is a 32-bit machine (Pentium M) using dvd::rip version 0.98.1.

Thanks for any help.
