I've been using 0.98.6 with transcode 1.0.3 to rip some of my DVD's for my
Archos 604.
I have been experiencing serious A/V sync issues on both PAL and NTSC discs.
The audio often being over a second out of sync. The affected discs were
completely random, but I'd say about 50% of my rips were unwatchable.
I tried everything - using the PSU core, different video codecs, ripping the
2.0 instead of 6.0 soundtracks. Nothing worked. I then tried the -M 3 (for
PAL) and -M 4 (for NTSC) transcode options. This fixed every title I was
having issues with. I noticed no performance hit.
Perhaps dvd::rip could be modified to automatically add -M 3 and -M 4 option
depending on the disc video format? It would make the process a lot more
reliable.
Perhaps there is a very good reason I do not know about that would prevent
this being sensible.
Also, are such transcode options passed to the nodes in cluster mode if set?
Cheers
Neill.
