This wouldn't help, since this is no dvd::rip restriction (which could
be fixed on a Perl level), but a transcode restriction. I doubt it's
technically possible to solve that at all (it's not transcode's fault -
far from it transcode's cluster mode is real magic...).

When you can't win, cheat! I suppose that for me the only real interest is chopping off the credits. Sure I can easily just use mplayer (and probably transcode and lots of others, I have only used mplayer on the cl) to get rid of the credits, but then I don't get the size I wanted. One way to do it would be just to rip the whole thing via cluster, doing a first local rip of the part not wanted to calculate the true bitrate, and then chop at the end. Sure, not clean, but scratch an itch... I suppose this is probably not clean enough for you to want it in the core though... If you think this would be acceptable, I will have a go. Cheers Anton
