Indeed, development is slowed down but the project is absolutely alive 
;)

Patches are always useful, so just go ahead. But I think, it's not just
"replace tccat with mplayer -dumpstream". For example during the DVD 
copy process tccat writes a navigation file so transcode can quickly 
seek in the stream (without the nav file preview grabbing is slow and 
cluster mode impossible). Probably another tccat run needs to be done on
the VOB files created by mplayer to get the nav file. As well dvd::rip 
creates subtitle preview images during ripping, and probably more I just
can't remember ;) Ideally this mplayer dump mode should be optional and
can be switched via Preferences.
